That's no big deal, as so many things causing more trouble for them and us than necessary, just because nobody seems to care. To sum it up, GOG shouldn't allow this in the first place, and as I suggested should allow existing owners to opt into or out of it. That's why I fail to see why they should have the right to do this, because materially it is a completely different product, sold as such to new customers, without asking or giving advanced notice of the taking down of that old version so we at least go a chance to download that old version about to be removed.
If this was legal or within a publisher/developer rights, they could as well take away licenses and files from our libraries, when games are taken down and are no longer sold, because of copyright issues, a publisher deciding they no longer wish to do business with GOG or whatever the case may be. As I said, we do business with GOG, they guarantee the right to keep the (licenses for) games, someone comes along and takes it, and that is not right. That's beside the point because we are conducting business with GOG not developers, a publisher, or any other third party for what it is worth.Ĭases where a game we bought has been replaced and the product we have originally paid for is removed, it's really not about the money or getting a refund, it is all about developers/publishers overstepping the line here. There is also no obligation to continually work on updates or fix bugs for an old/outdated version of a game. If you don't get your refund you'll realise you never had a leg to stand on in the first place. If you feel that you've been conned out of your money when you game got upgraded down the line, ask for a refund.
